The new roadmap will mobilise 61.8 million euros in support for the sector, set out in 77 measures aimed at fostering the creation of new solutions and products while generating high-quality, high value-added employment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">The Galician ICT sector has a considerable impact on economic activity due to its high rate of innovation: it is the 6th autonomous community in entrepreneurship, with 229 start-ups and 15 already established (scale-ups). This is a sector characterised by strong participation in European R&amp;D&amp;I programmes and which accounts for around 2.5% of Galicia\u2019s GDP and 2.2% of employment, reaching 23,467 registered workers. Its growth rate should also be highlighted: 21% since 2020, with 4,000 new professionals joining the 3,108 companies that make up the industrial fabric. Annual turnover amounted to approximately 3.932 billion euros in 2024, according to the report prepared by the Observatory for the Information Society and Modernisation of Galicia (Osimga).<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">Despite these positive figures, the Galician ICT sector\u2014declared strategic for the purposes of drafting its master plan in February 2024\u2014shows significant fragmentation, a lack of medium-sized and large companies, and excessive specialisation in programming and consultancy activities (67% are engaged in this work), making it necessary to promote the creation of new solutions that add value to the sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">However, the new master plan is structured around two strategic objectives, six lines of action and eight priority areas, including a set of 77 measures aimed at consolidating Galicia as a European benchmark in digitalisation and the adoption of disruptive technologies, with a robust and collaborative ICT ecosystem that fosters economic development, job creation and the transition towards a green and digital economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">Among the actions planned for implementation up to 2028, the President highlighted \u201ca new line of aid to enable small companies to enter the field of quantum technologies and artificial intelligence\u201d, as well as the development of a data strategy for the regional public sector to improve management and integration within the current legal framework. Initiatives will also be carried out to encourage the creation of larger companies with greater driving capacity and global value chains, in order to strengthen the sector\u2019s international positioning and support business scaling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">The plan establishes a governance system to ensure its proper implementation and monitoring, guaranteeing coordination and the participation of the entities and economic and social stakeholders involved in its drafting: companies, clusters and industry associations, technology centres, universities, professional bodies, trade unions and business organisations, and the public administration.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">Industrial promotion strategy<\/h2>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">To date, as explained by the President, the Galician Government has designated nine sectors as strategic for the economy: automotive, shipbuilding, forestry-wood and the ICT industry itself, all of which already have their respective approved master plans; the food industry, the logistics sector, the construction industry, metalworking and the textile and clothing sector, which are currently being processed, complete the list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">The drafting of master plans for the sectors declared strategic forms part of the industrial promotion strategy of the Regional Ministry of Economy and Industry and complements the Regional Plan for the Promotion and Acceleration of Industrial Projects, with the aim of facilitating the transformation process of Galician industries and fostering new business opportunities that generate wealth and quality
