- The territorial delegate of Lugo, Javier Arias, explained that the Galician Government has mobilised more than 180 million euros this year in Igape programmes across the region, and 40.7 million euros for nearly 8,700 self‑employed workers
Viveiro (Lugo), 25 October 2025
A hundred people took part today in Viveiro in the economic forum “A Look at the Future of Viveiro and A Mariña”, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia and the Confederation of Employers of Lugo (CEL) as part of the Conecta Lugo initiative.
The territorial delegate of Lugo, Javier Arias, stated during the closing session that the event was conceived “as a space for learning and genuine connection between people, projects and ideas”, with contributions from the business and association sectors, public administrations and the University. It included a lecture on “The Opportunity of a Green and Sustainable Industrial Galicia” and two round tables on the future of Viveiro and the strategic sectors of A Mariña, with a special focus on the forestry industry.
Arias underlined the Galician Government’s support for the productive sector by facilitating funding for the launch and consolidation of projects. Among other contributions, he said, Igape is mobilising more than 180 million euros this year throughout the region in grants and soft loans for small and medium‑sized enterprises, cooperatives and entrepreneurs. During the same period, the Department of Employment, Trade and Emigration is allocating more than 40.7 million euros to benefit nearly 8,700 self‑employed Galicians.
The delegate highlighted the significant advisory work also carried out by the Xunta through the Network of Entrepreneurship Hubs and the Galician Economic Office, “a direct, agile and personalised support system to turn a business idea into reality, access available aid, and reduce administrative procedures.”
In this context, he pointed out that the Conecta Lugo forums are inspiring thanks to “examples of growing local companies, which show that in our environment we have great entrepreneurial benchmarks and that the future is built with vision and commitment.”
