Monterroso town council, located in the region of A Ulloa (Lugo), has a business park with 84,725 m² of industrial surface area and 72 plots of land. Its economy is based on the primary sector, especially livestock farming, as well as the tertiary sector. The municipality also has an important rural tourism offer and hosts the annual Santos Fair in November, which has been declared of Galician tourist interest and has been considered one of the most important fairs in Galicia for centuries.
