The Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, announced today that in the coming weeks the Economic Office of Galicia will launch a new advisory service specialising in defence and security projects and the aerospace sector.
In response to an oral question in the Parliamentary Plenary, Lorenzana explained that this measure is part of the new Galician Strategy for Aerospace, Security and Defence, which aims to promote the aerospace sector linked to defence and security, and to attract to this area companies from Galicia’s strategic industries, such as automotive, shipbuilding, metalworking and ICT.
The Minister said that, in order to streamline bureaucracy and provide continuous and personalised support to companies, more than one hundred expert professionals work within the Economic Office of Galicia in key areas such as finance, innovation, energy and business strategy, as well as in emerging fields such as climate proofing – ensuring that infrastructure projects are designed with current and future climate change impacts in mind.
She specified that in its first year of operation, the entity has handled more than 22,600 enquiries, 85% of them resolved immediately, and has held over 1,000 in-person meetings with companies.
As a measure to address the new US tariff policy, she recalled that the Economic Office of Galicia also supports Igape’s satellite office in Miami to advise companies on their export strategies and even help them “open new business doors,” she concluded.
