Santiago de Compostela, 23 January 2026

The Regional Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, announced today that the next meeting of the Xunta’s Cabinet will approve the draft master plan for the ICT sector, which will have an estimated budget of 60 million euros for the next two years.

Lorenzana, accompanied by the director of the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape), Covadonga Toca, today visited the facilities of the company Sixtema in Santiago, “an excellent example of what the ICT sector means for our autonomous community”, she said. A sector, she specified, that “has been increasing its weight in the Galician economy very significantly” and “can already be considered a fully fledged industrial sector”. Since 2020 it has recorded growth of 21 per cent in Galicia, which has meant the incorporation of 4,000 new professionals, she recalled.

“These are workers and technology experts who are ensuring that innovation is already penetrating Galician companies in a very significant way,” she stressed, highlighting the Innovation Strategy that the Xunta de Galicia is preparing with this same objective: that, above all, SMEs “begin to incorporate technology into their production processes, into their way of marketing and producing, and into how they organise themselves”; for which purpose companies such as Sixtema are fundamental, she underlined.

In this regard, she indicated that within the package of Igape aid schemes published in the Official Gazette of Galicia at the beginning of the year (181 million euros), the first lines that have already opened their application period are those for innovation: Igape Innova (4 million euros), Industria Innova (30 million euros) and the one that was so well received last year for artificial intelligence, IA 360 (10 million euros).
