A Estrada (Pontevedra), 12 September 2025

The Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, announced today that the Xunta is already working on the tender for the expropriation project of the Toedo business park – A Estrada “to start the expansion works in 2027”.

Lorenzana held a meeting this morning in A Estrada with local entrepreneurs to discuss the details of the Toedo Business Land Use Plan (Peose) approved by the Xunta Council last Monday and published today in the Official Galicia Gazette (DOG). According to her, it will make nearly 157,000 m² more land available to the productive sector with an investment exceeding 13 million euros.

As she explained, with this expansion the total gross area of the industrial estate will increase from 190,554 m² to 347,239 m² “which represents an 82% increase in the current capacity of the estate,” she emphasised. “We want to adapt land development as much as possible to the real needs of businesses,” she said.

In this vein, María Jesús Lorenzana reiterated the autonomous government’s concern for industrial development in parts of Galicia like A Estrada, where there is demand and potential for land development and also stressed the importance of “investing time and money wisely in developing industrial estates”.

She took the opportunity to explain that in 2025 the autonomous government launched new business land-use figures such as the Business Project and Land Acceleration Zones (Zapes) and Rural Industrial Zones (ZIR), which reduce development times and facilitate private initiatives to develop business areas where there is real demand from promoters.

Finally, the minister said the Xunta is already working on measures to make the acquisition of available business land in Galicia more flexible and cheaper by 2026.

More Business Land in Pontevedra

This initiative is part of the Xunta’s strategy to create a strong and competitive business fabric by providing more business land based on a model of orderly, efficient, and environmentally respectful industrial development that attracts investment, promotes job creation, and guarantees territorial balance.

In the province of Pontevedra, nearly three million square metres of business land are currently being processed. Specifically, this includes the Fragamoreira business park (Poio), the expansion of the Campiño industrial estate (Pontevedra), the Louredo park (Mos-Redondela), the expansion of the Pousadoiro Business Park (Vilagarcía de Arousa), and the expansion of the MI of PLISAN (Salvaterra-As Neves). Additionally, the urbanisation project for the Lalín 2000 industrial estate and the reurbanisation project for the Transport Hub and Intermodal Terminal of Ponte Caldelas are also underway.
