Baiona, 13 January 2026

The Regional Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, accompanied by the Secretary General for Industry, Nicolás Vázquez, met today with the Mayor of Baiona, Jesús Vázquez Almuíña, with whom she assessed the possibilities available in the municipality for the creation of business land. Currently, the General Municipal Planning Scheme of the Council includes an area of developable industrial land pending development.

At the meeting, Lorenzana outlined the different types of business land planning currently regulated by the Regional Administration, among which she highlighted the Business Project and Land Acceleration Zones (ZAPES).

This scheme allows the urban planning procedures and those for business projects to be carried out simultaneously, and therefore more swiftly, in those cases where the territorial area will include a strategic industrial project (PIE). Through the ZAPES, the establishment of industries will benefit from a significant saving in timescales, so that the average time for companies to start construction could be reduced from ten years to just one and a half years.

Nearly 3 million square metres of industrial land in Pontevedra

At present, the Regional Government is processing nearly three million square metres of business land in the province of Pontevedra. In addition to the Toedo industrial estate (A Estrada), the zoning plans for the Fragamoreira business park (Poio), Louredo (Mos-Redondela), the extension of Pousadoiro (Vilagarcía de Arousa), Phase II of Campiño (Pontevedra) and the extension of the multifunctional industrial area of Plisan are currently being processed. Work is also underway on the urbanisation project for Phase IV of Lalín 2000 and the reurbanisation project for the Central de Transportes and Intermodal Terminal of Ponte Caldelas. In total, they add up to more than 2.7 million square metres of business land.
