Santiago de Compostela, 9 January 2026
The Regional Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, today assessed with the Social Dialogue body the state of progress of the different master plans that the Xunta is drawing up for industrial sectors, now that those for the automotive and shipbuilding sectors have already been approved.
The Galician Government has designated, in total, nine industrial sectors as strategic for Galicia: shipbuilding, automotive, the ICT industry, metalworking, forestry–wood, logistics, food, textiles and construction. Their respective master plans therefore set out a series of measures and resources to boost their competitiveness and to promote employment and investment around them.
At the meeting, Lorenzana explained that the next to be approved will be the master plan for the forestry–wood sector and that for the ICT industry. In both cases, she indicated that the draft of the preliminary project has already been completed, with the intention of sending them to the Xunta’s Cabinet in the near future. The remaining plans are at the drafting stage.
The Regional Minister stressed that the master plans stem from a process of dialogue with the sectors involved, representatives of the different value chains, clusters, business organisations, innovation bodies and, of course, economic and social stakeholders. With all of them, meetings and working groups are held in order to identify needs and lines of action.
