The Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, today highlighted Agua de Sousas’s commitment to continuing to expand its capacity and technology at its facilities, for which, she said, it has the full support and backing of the Xunta de Galicia.

Lorenzana visited the company’s bottling plant in Verín (Ourense) today, where she explained that the regional administration, through the Directorate‑General for Energy Planning and Mines and the Economic Office of the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape), is monitoring the expansion project currently under way, which involves an investment of €8.5 million.

The Minister described it as an “exceptional” family business that “combines tradition and modernity”, with more than 165 years of history and which “has managed to endure mainly by investing, innovating and making quality its hallmark.”

In her remarks, she highlighted the growth figures achieved by Agua de Sousas last year, with record revenues of almost €8 million, representing a 20% increase over the previous year. She also noted that the company employs nearly 40 people.

“We hope to continue supporting this company in its growth,” she reiterated. “We are collaborating, as we always do,” she stressed, “through the open window that is the Economic Office of Galicia for all companies, with which we work both in financing and in technical monitoring of projects.”
