The Regional Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, today reaffirmed the Xunta’s commitment to the expansion of the San Cibrao das Viñas industrial estate, an initiative involving an investment of 17.8 million euros to increase its area by more than 340,000 m², with the goal of making it available to businesses by 2028.

In her address at the closing session of the General Assembly of the San Cibrao das Viñas Industrial Estate Business Association, Lorenzana also noted that the Xunta will amend the sectoral project for the Transport City to expand its area and include the land needed for the construction of the future freight terminal.

“The San Cibrao industrial estate has a solid industrial base covering diverse sectors and aspires to continue growing,” she said, emphasising that supporting the industrial future of the entire region is vital, also from the point of view of territorial balance and cohesion.

The Regional Minister stated that this is “the legislature of industrial land in Galicia,” since the Xunta is giving strong backing to business areas where demand is highest, through administrative tools such as the Zones for the Acceleration of Business Projects (ZAPEs), for cases where it is necessary to create custom-fitted industrial land.

In this context, she highlighted that the province of Ourense currently has one of the largest areas of industrial land under development, covering nearly three million square metres.
