The Regional Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, noted today that Galician companies may now apply until next 17 March for the Regional Government’s aid to incorporate artificial intelligence to improve their industrial processes and the marketing of new products or services.

She highlighted this during a visit she made this morning to the facilities of Galigrain, of the Nogar Group, accompanied by the Director of the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape), Covadonga Toca, and the President of the Port Authority of A Coruña, Martín Fernández.

Galigrain was one of the companies that benefited from this line of support from the Regional Government last year, with which it is implementing a storage planning system based on artificial intelligence that will bring it significant savings in time and energy costs, as well as better optimisation of space.

Lorenzana specified that this new call for the artificial intelligence line has a budget of 10 million euros and is part of the package of support measures that Igape published in advance at the beginning of the year and which amount in total to nearly 181 million euros. It offers maximum grants of up to 100,000 and 500,000 euros.

“We believe that it is truly important, especially for SMEs, which have more difficulties, to be aware of this programme so that, little by little, they can automate and modernise themselves,” she said. “These are key forms of support so that, in the medium and long term, companies can survive and continue to grow in size,” she added.
