- Advocates for the elimination of bureaucratic obstacles to expedite economic projects
- In the past year, the Economic Office handled nearly 19,000 enquiries and advised on 193 projects of special relevance
Santiago de Compostela, 26 March 2025
The President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, accompanied by the Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, today reaffirmed the Galician Government’s commitment to administrative simplification to strengthen business development, including projects for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises.
During his speech at the anniversary of the launch of the Economic Office of the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (IGAPE), created a year ago with the aim of reducing bureaucratic procedures for businesses in their dealings with the Administration, Rueda stated that the Office “represented a qualitative leap” by offering companies and investors a “privileged” and “rapid” channel to address their initiatives.
According to the President, the Office has “drawn attention” outside Galicia and is part of the Xunta’s commitment to making our community an “attractive and competitive” place to seize opportunities by retaining and attracting investments, where they will find “demanding” criteria but also “facilities” and “legal certainty”.
In this regard, the Galician Government has undertaken two lines of action to facilitate the reduction of procedures: on the one hand, the digitalisation of processes to decentralise the submission of documents, obtain real-time responses and advice, and gain efficiency and transparency; and on the other hand, direct aid to entrepreneurs, self-employed individuals and SMEs to create a more favourable environment for the establishment of new industries.
Since its launch, IGAPE’s Economic Office has handled nearly 19,000 enquiries, held 865 meetings with companies, advised on 193 projects of special relevance and resolved more than 85% of enquiries at the time they were made.
