Santiago de Compostela, January 2, 2025
The new Economic Office of Galicia, promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Industry, is now operating at full capacity, receiving an average of more than 1,700 inquiries per month. Since its launch in April, the service has been advising, supporting, and accompanying companies, self-employed individuals, and entrepreneurs to implement and develop their business projects in Galicia.
The area under the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape), directed by Natalia Barros and formed by more than 100 professionals from different sectors, functions as a single channel between businesses and Administration, offering individualized, personalized, and specialized information and attention. In just its first eight months of activity, the Office has received a total of 13,731 inquiries, of which 82% were resolved immediately, and provided advice to 204 projects of special relevance for the Galician territory.
During December, the service continued its growing activity: the number of inquiries handled increased by 11.61% and face-to-face meetings rose to 583. Through this advisory and support work, the Economic Office of Galicia facilitates the management of business projects to make procedures faster and, ultimately, simpler.
By sectors, the main inquiries come from areas such as energy, automotive, circular economy, sea-industry sector, tourism, ICT, logistics, contract, and construction. Additionally, the Office coordinates with other external agents and entities, both directly and through ICEX/Invest in Spain, in detecting administrative obstacles and identifying new investment opportunities.
These measures, among others, are part of the debureaucratization process promoted by the Xunta to continue simplifying procedures for the productive sector and offering an agile, fast, and useful response. And, in this way, position Galicia as a pole of business attraction in the Peninsula and as an attractive Community both for companies already installed in the territory and for new investments.
After opening a physical headquarters of the Economic Office of Galicia in Santiago de Compostela in September, the service offers multiple channels to provide the best possible attention adapted to each case. Therefore, companies, self-employed individuals, or entrepreneurs can receive attention both in person at the San Lázaro Administrative Complex, Igape headquarters, in Santiago de Compostela, by phone at 900 815 151, and online through oficinaeconomicagalicia.xunta.gal.
In 2025, the Xunta will open a new headquarters of the Economic Office of Galicia at the Casa de Galicia in Madrid. As explained by the Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, the Galician Government is taking a step further by opening the first office outside Galicia to strengthen business dynamization and investment attraction, and thus continue simplifying the path for companies wanting to establish themselves in the Community.
