The director of Igape, Covadonga Toca, took part in the opening of the Conecta Empresas conference, where she underlined the importance of promoting spaces that facilitate connection, dialogue, and the creation of innovative projects between leading companies and emerging entrepreneurial initiatives.

Toca Carús stressed that Galicia is consolidating a collaborative culture in which large companies contribute experience, while startups bring creativity, agility, and new technological perspectives. She also expressed her gratitude to Startup Galicia for strengthening the innovation community, as well as to the companies and participating startups whose collaboration enables new opportunities for open innovation.

The director pointed out that Galicia’s progress in innovation is supported by solid indicators. The European Commission’s Regional Innovation Scoreboard places Galicia as the sixth most innovative Spanish region, close to the group of strong regions, highlighting its university base, high educational level, digital connectivity, and progress in environmental sustainability.

Likewise, the report Empresas Tech e Innovadoras by El Referente, updated in October 2025, confirms that Galicia remains one of the most dynamic ecosystems in the country, with over 400 technology companies, almost 3,000 qualified jobs, and a turnover exceeding 290 million euros.

Toca Carús stressed that this progress is the result of the Xunta’s sustained strategy, supported by initiatives such as the IA360 programme — with more than 15 million euros aimed at boosting artificial intelligence and advanced technologies in SMEs —, the Igape Antennas network abroad, which supports companies in their internationalisation, and the Business Factories network, which provides startups with a stable environment to test solutions, attract clients, and secure investment.

Furthermore, she highlighted the role of the Galician Economic Office, which centralises information and advice to ensure that no project is left without support. The director concluded by encouraging companies and startups to continue generating synergies: “In Galicia we are building a genuine shared culture of innovation, in which every stakeholder plays an essential role in advancing as a competitive and innovative region.”
