The director of Igape, Covadonga Toca, participated today in a working meeting with representatives of the Union of Cooperatives of Galicia – EspazoCoop. At the meeting, where she was accompanied by Natalia Barros, director of the Economic Office of Galicia, under Igape, the importance of public-private collaboration was emphasized to boost competitiveness and sustainable growth of the Galician business fabric, especially in the cooperative sector.
During the meeting, Toca highlighted the importance of the role of the Economic Office of Galicia “to connect with companies, facilitating and promoting debureaucratization and bringing a more accessible administration”, which will enhance the development of business initiatives through more agile, direct and effective support.
The director of Igape also recalled that 2025 will be the International Year of Cooperatives, a global commemoration that underlines the relevance of this model as a driver for creating a more sustainable, fair and participatory future. In this sense, she highlighted the role of cooperatives as one of the fundamental pillars of the Galician economy and stressed the need to bet on innovation and digitalization to consolidate their long-term growth.
Covadonga Toca emphasized the importance of working hand in hand with the cooperative sector, “an organizational model that brings social and economic value, promotes quality employment and promotes equal opportunities”.
The visit concluded with a call for public-private collaboration to continue consolidating cooperativism and social economy as key tools for sustainable economic development in Galicia.
