The Xunta highlights once again the good reception of the Igape-SMEs scheme, which has received more than 1,500 applications from self-employed workers and micro-enterprises.

The Regional Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, underlined this morning the good reception that, once again, the Igape-Pemes credit access support scheme is having, which so far this year has received 1,578 applications for an amount exceeding 241 million euros.

The head of Economy and Industry presented these figures during her visit to the rural tourism establishment Casas do Pincelo, located in the town of Chantada, in the province of Lugo, which benefited from support from this programme in the 2024 call. Specifically, to carry out the rehabilitation work on one of the buildings that make up this residential complex, as well as to construct a new building.

María Jesús Lorenzana recalled that the Galician Government is allocating 19 million euros to this initiative for this year, which will make possible more than one thousand operations. In this way, the aid is expected to have an impact on financial operations that may reach 150 million euros in 2025. The deadline for applying for support ends on 30 September.

In more detail, the Regional Minister explained that the Igape-Pemes scheme offers guaranteed loans ranging from €3,000 to €1 million for productive investments, working capital and also for debt payment or restructuring. She also stressed the innovations of the current call, among which she highlighted the relaxation of justification requirements and the reduction of the maximum interest rate through lowering the spread to 1.80.

Between 2020 and 2024, the Igape-Pemes scheme has benefited more than 4,920 Galician SMEs and self-employed workers, who were able to access credit and help mobilise a total amount of 389 million euros.
