Ourense, 13 November 2025
The Director-General for Industrial Strategy and Business Land, Margarita Ardao, today presented the Strategic Initiative on Security, Defence and Aerospace to students of the Master’s in Aeronautical Engineering taught at the School of Aerospace Engineering on the Ourense campus of the University of Vigo, where she highlighted the value of specialised training in these technology-intensive sectors and emphasised the qualified, high-quality employment opportunities they offer Galician youth.
The Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering is an official qualification that authorises graduates to practise the profession and has enjoyed the collaboration of the Xunta de Galicia since its introduction in the 2023/2024 academic year. Spanning two academic years, the first cohort of aeronautical engineers entered the labour market last year.
The Director-General recalled that, within the framework of the new Strategic Initiative on Security, Defence and Aerospace, efforts will continue to focus on nurturing present and future talent as a key element of regional competitiveness. She added that the Xunta will continue to invest in attracting and retaining Galicia’s best talent for technical careers and high-quality, highly skilled jobs, from the earliest stages of education through to university and vocational training.
Galicia offers a wide range of training aimed at consolidating, in the medium and long term, a sector capable of generating, attracting and retaining talent. In addition to the qualifying Master’s in Aeronautical Engineering, there is also a Master’s in Unmanned Aerial Systems, a Degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Higher Technical Diploma in Aeromechanical Maintenance at the CIFP As Mercedes in Lugo, among others.
