  • Lorenzana stated that this agreement is aligned with the goals of the new Galician Strategy for Aerospace, Security and Defence, which aims to mobilise more than €900 million by 2030
  • She announced that a specialised unit will be created within the Economic Office of Galicia to work with TEDAE, an important association that brings together over a hundred Spanish technology companies involved in these three areas of activity

Madrid, 14 May 2025

The Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, visited today the International Defence and Security Fair of Spain, where she signed a memorandum of understanding with the Association of Defence, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technology Companies (TEDAE) to promote the growth of companies in these sectors operating in Galicia.

Specifically, the agreement provides that TEDAE will collaborate with the Xunta to promote Galician companies in international markets and trade missions; identify the most effective support instruments at any given time; develop training programmes with partner institutions in Galicia; and coordinate market studies and statistics.

Lorenzana highlighted the value of this agreement “to initiate the implementation” of the new Galician Strategy for Aerospace, Security and Defence, approved that same week by the Xunta’s Council. The strategy, she explained, aims to strengthen the aerospace sector linked to defence and security, while attracting to this field companies from other strategic sectors in Galicia such as automotive, shipbuilding, metalworking and ICT.

To achieve this, the Xunta has planned an investment of €183 million and expects to mobilise over €900 million by 2030 through three lines of action. The first focuses on creating a business ecosystem in which leading firms collaborate with smaller ones, helping them enter the sector through pre‑commercial public procurement, partnership agreements or the creation of consortia (€84 million).

Support is also foreseen for the incorporation or consolidation of companies already operating in the sector (covering innovation, exports, etc.), given that there are currently 140 dedicated to it and about 150 more in Galicia with potential to join (€34 million). Finally, the strategy includes a line of support for investment in dual technologies (€65 million), with a specific Xesgalicia fund of €40 million. The goal is to attract 20 new companies to the sector, create more than 500 new jobs and boost sales by over 50%.

As she announced, within the framework of this strategy, a specialised unit will be created within the Economic Office of Galicia to work with TEDAE — a key association that brings together more than a hundred Spanish technology industries operating in these three areas.
