Madrid, November 30, 2024
The Regional Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, announced today that the Xunta will initiate procedures to open a new branch of the Galician Economic Office in the facilities of the Casa de Galicia in Madrid, expected to be operational by mid-2025. The objective, she said, is “to strengthen business establishment and attract investments” to contribute to the establishment of companies in Galicia.
Lorenzana, who held a meeting with representatives of the Association of Galician Businessmen in Madrid (Aegama), emphasized that with this, the Galician Government is taking a further step by opening the first office outside Galicia that will allow continuing with “debureaucratization as a key strategy of the Galician Government’s economic policy. “The Xunta seeks to become a business-friendly Administration and provide an agile, quick, and useful response,” she said.
During her intervention, the Regional Minister reported that since its launch last April, the Galician Economic Office, under the Igape, has handled 11,898 inquiries, with over 80% resolved on the spot. Additionally, 517 business advisory meetings have been arranged to address, among other matters, 179 projects of special relevance.
“We are already talking about almost 12,000 inquiries handled in just seven months, a clear indication of the success this initiative is having and also shows how necessary it was to provide the regional Administration with a specialized service for businesses that is close to companies,” she emphasized.
The Galician Economic Office functions as a single channel for businesses and industry and as a point of contact for information and entry for business initiatives and industrial projects. In other words, “a personalized attention point where companies can find what they need, advice and support for launching their projects,” she highlighted.
In this regard, María Jesús Lorenzana noted that for the growth of Galicia, its economy and industry, “companies are vital and it is the responsibility of the Administrations to provide them with the appropriate conditions for their establishment.”
Likewise, within the framework of the economic and industrial policy being carried out by the Xunta, she explained that for 2025, the Igape’s budget is increased by 20% (up to 278 million euros) to continue working in fundamental areas for the growth and consolidation of the productive fabric through competitiveness, innovation, internationalization, and financing.
Finally, the head of Economy and Industry emphasized that the objective of the Galician Government is to position Galicia as an attractive and differentiated destination for investment, attract and facilitate the establishment of new investments in the Community, select and attract investments that complement value chains, and promote the maintenance and expansion of existing investments.
