The Xunta delegate Belén do Campo visited the Bergondo industrial park accompanied by representatives of its owners’ association, in order to highlight the Xunta’s support for industrial parks to enhance their competitiveness. In this regard, she cited the Bergondo business park as the best example, as it received 120,000 euros this year under the order for the improvement of business park infrastructure.
The representative of the regional government highlighted the importance of this park, which covers 1,015,747 m², has 246 plots, 344 companies and 3,500 workers, with practically 100% occupancy. After almost thirty years in existence, the Bergondo Industrial Park is considered one of the most prosperous industrial estates with the highest occupancy rate in the entire province of A Coruña and even throughout Galicia.
Belén do Campo referred to the project carried out under the order for the improvement of business park infrastructure, which involved the renewal of the road surface in a particularly deteriorated area comprising the streets Parroquia de Guísamo, Parroquia de Lubre, Parroquia de Vixoi and Parroquia de Cortiñán. In this case, the road surface of the aforementioned streets showed numerous defects in its wearing course due to intensive use with heavy traffic, so works were carried out to renew the wearing course of the streets in question, as well as to repair the concrete frames of the manholes and inspection chambers that required it, over a road length of almost one kilometre.
Infrastructure Order
The representative of the regional government explained that the purpose of this order is to improve services and upgrade existing or newly incorporated infrastructure so that the businesses located in Galician business parks can have more competitive conditions to develop their economic activity, thereby encouraging the establishment of companies.
In this regard, the delegate highlighted that this order has also made it possible to carry out works, in addition to those in Bergondo, in the Coirós business park with almost 51,000 euros and in Curtis with 120,000 euros. In total, this region has received more than 291,000 euros for the improvement of the road networks in these three business parks.
In the province of A Coruña, 27 industrial parks have been beneficiaries of these grants for an amount of almost 2.4 million euros, and the total grants awarded amount to 5.6 million euros in Galicia to modernise the infrastructure of 72 business parks.
Belén do Campo explained that these grants contribute to the modernisation of industrial park facilities and enable businesses to have the services and infrastructure they need to carry out their activities. In this sense, it is about providing a better service to encourage the retention and establishment of companies and to promote local employment.
The support line is competitively awarded and is aimed at Galician local councils that wish to carry out improvements relating to the installation of efficient public lighting, wastewater treatment plants, waste management, road infrastructure, as well as centralised services for the supply of gas and green hydrogen.
The grants have an intensity of 80% up to a maximum limit of 120,000 euros in the case of individual applications and 138,000 euros in the case of joint applications.
