The Regional Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, announced today that the Xunta’s plan is for the construction works for the new industrial estate in Ribeira to be put out to tender by the end of this year, after signing this morning at the Lustres Ribas cultural centre a protocol with the mayor, María Sampedro, to update the urbanisation project.
As she explained, the municipality, which is promoting this action, processed the urban planning, obtained the land included in the area and commissioned the drafting of the urbanisation project. However, when the Galician Land Management Company (Xestur) began to analyse the future contracting and execution of these works, it was found that the documentation —although valid as a urban basis— required a greater degree of development and technical definition due to the scale and complexity of the works to be carried out.
In this regard, this protocol is a preliminary step for the formalisation of the agreement that will regulate in more detail the obligations and commitments of both parties, and is necessary so that Xestur —the entity that will assume the contracting, financing and execution of this industrial estate— also takes charge of updating the urbanisation project.
In accordance with this document, the following will be updated, among other things: topographical and geotechnical studies, measurements, construction solutions, service networks, the execution budget and, where appropriate, the phased programming of the action. All these works will be contracted and financed by Xestur, once they have the municipality’s approval.
Once this protocol has been signed, the tender for the update of the project will be published in the next few days on Xestur’s contractor profile, with the plan to have that updated document before the end of 2026, since the estimated period is three months from the award. Subsequently, the Xunta will proceed to put the works out to tender, also foreseen in this same year.
“We are starting the contracting of that modification of the project, which has a period of three months from the award, and we estimate that at the end of 2026,” the minister explained, “we will already be tendering the works in accordance with that already adapted project”.
As she stated, “it is an important day for the industrial development of the whole area and of Ribeira in particular, where it is confirmed that there is demand for business land, in a town that has everything it needs to continue moving forward from an economic point of view”.
They will be nearly 260,000 m² of industrial land, around 26 hectares, which are part of the more than 3.5 million m² that the Xunta is processing in the province of A Coruña. Phase C of the Morás Business Park (Arteixo); the expropriation of the Bértoa (Carballo) and Coristanco business parks; the new business park in Cabana de Bergantiños; the expansion of the Sionlla business park (Santiago de Compostela); the new Mandiá Industrial and Port Logistics Platform (Ferrol); or the expansion of the Merelle industrial estate (Ordes).
