Tui (Pontevedra), 21 July 2026
The Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, announced this morning that from next 29 July the application period will open for the third package of extraordinary aid approved by the Xunta for the automotive sector, with a budget of 45 million euros, which is published today in the Official Gazette of Galicia.
She made this announcement during a visit to the facilities of Valver – in the Areas industrial estate, in Tui – which she described as a “leading” company that forms part of the “extraordinary value chain” of the automotive sector in Galicia, she said, with more than 40 years of history and which stands out for its degree of innovation and internationalisation.
“We continue to back a key sector within Galician industry, and with that industrialisation strategy with which we aim to gradually increase the contribution that industry makes to the Galician economy, which is in a very good position, but which needs the support and collaboration of the Administration with companies,” Lorenzana indicated.
The programme is structured in three lines of action, each with an amount of 15 million euros. The first is for experimental development and innovation in organisation and processes projects; the second is for actions in environmental protection and decarbonisation; and the third is aimed at SMEs to facilitate their adaptation to green, decarbonised and connected mobility.
The aid, designed following a process of dialogue with the Galician Automotive and Mobility Cluster (Ceaga), can reach up to a maximum of 10 million euros, and companies will be able to access several lines. All projects must have a minimum eligible investment of 100,000 euros. In addition, to facilitate the execution of the actions, an advance payment of 80 per cent of the grant is planned, which will be processed ex officio and without the need to provide guarantees.
They can reach 50 per cent for development and innovation projects and 32.5 per cent for environmental protection and decarbonisation investments, depending on the size of the company. In the case of SMEs, up to 50 per cent of the consultancy costs associated with transformation and productive modernisation projects will be subsidised.
This new call forms part of the strategy that the Xunta has been developing to consolidate Galicia as one of the main automotive hubs in Europe and to accompany this industrial sector at a decisive moment marked by electrification and decarbonisation.
In this context, the forecast is to mobilise more than 230 million euros through the Galician Automotive Master Plan 2025–2027, endowed with 134.1 million euros, and the Extraordinary Programme to Support Decarbonisation and the Transition to Electric Vehicles, launched in 2024.
