The Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, today visited the premises of the Galician technology company Balidea, where she highlighted the contributions that ICT sector companies can make to the security and defence industry.
Lorenzana described Balidea as “one of the main technology companies in Galicia and Spain”, with almost 25 years of experience, and which at present “is taking steps” towards these sectors, where this type of company is already developing dual technologies, she added.
According to her, it is a company that was one of the 52 beneficiaries of the aid line for certifications (1.5 million euros) that the Xunta called for the first time this year, and which is one of the measures included in the Security, Defence and Aerospace Strategy (Iesda) for companies that wish to make the leap into this industry. “We always say that any company in civil sectors can join this strategy, and Balidea is a good example”, she assured.
In addition, the minister also pointed out that it was also a company that applied to the two calls under the IA360 line. This latest edition, which closed in August, had a public investment of 10 million euros and supported 97 projects (43 technological development and 54 AI solutions).
