Lorenzana recalls that companies can still join the partnership agreements to boost major industrial projects in security, defence and aerospace in Galicia

  • The deadline for submitting applications is open until next 30 September
  • The Xunta will allocate 40 million euros to these agreements, one of the main measures of the Strategic Initiative for Security, Defence and Aerospace (Iesda)
  • The minister stressed that companies such as Centum show that in Galicia it is possible to produce top-level technology that competes in international markets

Vigo, 7 August 2026

The Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, recalled today in Vigo that Galician companies still have until 30 September to take part in the partnership agreements to develop major industrial projects in dual technologies that will be manufactured in Galicia.

During a visit to the facilities of the company Centum, Lorenzana explained that these partnership agreements constitute one of the main measures that the Galician Government is developing within the framework of the Strategic Initiative for Security, Defence and Aerospace (Iesda), to which the Xunta will allocate 40 million euros through the Pre-Commercial Public Procurement formula, which will make it possible to boost the development of innovative technological solutions in the fields of security, defence and aerospace.

Through this action, which is pioneering in Spain, the Xunta seeks to attract major innovation and technological development projects; and, as a new feature, that “these technological solutions are manufactured in Galicia,” Lorenzana highlighted, recalling that the forecast is to form between two and 15 business consortia and approve the award in the first half of 2027.

On the other hand, the minister also referred to the first call for aid, with a budget of 1.5 million euros, launched by the regional government to facilitate Galician companies obtaining certifications as suppliers for the security and defence sector.

In this context, she pointed out that these are companies from sectors as diverse as shipbuilding, metalworking, aerospace, technology, transport, industrial maintenance, automotive, electricity and electronics, consultancy, construction, engineering or additive manufacturing. This, she added, demonstrates the interest of Galician industry in diversifying towards this market.

During the visit to Centum, the Minister of Economy and Industry highlighted its track record as an example of a Galician company “that has shown that in Galicia it is possible to produce top-level technology that competes in the international market,” she said. This positions the region as a benchmark in the aerospace sector, which “is the underlying objective of our strategy,” she concluded.
