  • He highlights that Galicia is experiencing an especially attractive moment, one that is favourable for entrepreneurship and marked by continuously improving unemployment figures
  • He emphasises that our region offers stability, security and open arms to entrepreneurs who wish to invest

O Grove (Pontevedra), 3 July 2025

The President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, today highlighted the key role of the Galician diaspora as a strategic ally for the economic development of our region.

During his participation in the closing ceremony of the World Meeting of Galicians, organised by the Association of Galician Businesspeople Abroad (AEGAMA) and held on the island of Toxa (O Grove), Rueda expressed his gratitude to the association for its work in strengthening ties with the diaspora at a time that is “especially attractive” for Galicia, favourable for entrepreneurship and characterised by improving unemployment rates.

In this regard, the head of the Galician Government referred to the Galicia Calidade brand as that which “makes us recognisable beyond our land”, noting that the success of Galician business talent abroad is positive for Galicia and a source of pride, as well as our “best mark of identity”.

According to the President, our region offers stability, security and “open arms” to anyone wishing to invest. As a result, he stated that many businesspeople are turning their attention to Galicia and that the Galician Government has “clear priorities” to help them address challenges such as hard‑to‑fill vacancies or absenteeism.

The Xunta is working to facilitate the return of new generations of Galicians through measures such as the Galicia Retorna Strategy up to 2026, BEME scholarships for master’s studies, and support for business networks such as AEGAMA itself.

Internationalisation Strategy 2021‑2025

In the economic sphere, the positive results of the Internationalisation Strategy 2021‑2025 stand out, having enabled exports to surpass €31 billion for the first time and exceed 9,300 exporting companies, as well as the creation of the Economic Office of Galicia, which will open its first headquarters outside the region in Madrid. Moreover, work is already underway on the new Internationalisation Strategy 2026‑2030 to diversify markets and support the global expansion of Galician companies.
