Santiago de Compostela, 22 September 2026

The President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, attended the official opening of Bandalux’s new corporate headquarters in the A Sionlla industrial estate in Santiago de Compostela today. Accompanied by the Regional Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, he highlighted the central role of family businesses in Galicia’s economy. He described them as the backbone of its productive sector and a major source of wealth and high-quality jobs.

“There are highly successful family businesses throughout Spain and elsewhere, but particularly here in Galicia. They have managed to grow and move with the times without losing their roots or the foundations on which they were built. They now operate in many places, and I pledge the Xunta de Galicia’s support so that they can continue to grow from their home base,” he said.

Rueda congratulated the García family and the entire Bandalux team on the company’s 40th anniversary and its decision to establish its new headquarters in Galicia’s capital. He emphasised that companies such as Bandalux show that Galicia has the talent to lead international markets and compete at the highest level.

“There are many reasons for talented people to continue working here, and for professionals from other parts of the world to come to Galicia to develop both professionally and personally,” he said. He reaffirmed the responsibility of public authorities to create the right conditions, provide support, remove obstacles and help businesses grow.

He also noted that Bandalux’s products carry the Galicia Calidade quality mark and demonstrate the international reputation of Galicia’s contract furnishings sector.

A benchmark for architecture and comfort

During his tour of the facilities, the President of the Xunta congratulated architect Mauro Lomba and the entire team on the design of the new building. He described it as an example of ambitious, modern and sustainable architecture that perfectly combines “form and function”. He also stressed the importance of creating welcoming workplaces with well-regulated lighting, temperature and comfort levels.

The President concluded by pledging that the Xunta would continue to be the strongest ally of those who take risks, invest and create wealth in Galicia. “If these established major companies thrive and keep their feet on the ground, on their home ground, that means Galicia is thriving too,” he said.
