- He presents Galicia as an attractive place to invest, thanks to advantages such as institutional stability and government support for strategic projects.
Santiago de Compostela, 21 September 2026
The President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, met this morning with a delegation from the Chinese conglomerate Citic Group (China International Trust and Investment Corporation) to review the projects the group is already developing in Galicia and explore possible avenues for future collaboration.
Citic Group is one of China’s largest and most diversified conglomerates, with operations in key sectors including financial services, industrial technologies, advanced materials, telecommunications and next-generation infrastructure.
The group currently has a production facility in O Porriño, Citic Hic Gandara Censa, which manufactures large components for sectors including mining, oil and renewable energy.
At the meeting, the President emphasised that Galicia has established itself as a safe and attractive place to invest. Among its advantages, he cited institutional stability and legal certainty, as well as a strategic geographical location and strong support from the regional government in facilitating and speeding up the establishment of major projects in Galicia.
The meeting forms part of an ongoing series of contacts with the group. Rueda met Citic’s president in May last year, while the Regional Minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, met its representatives during a visit to China in April.
