The Director of Igape, Covadonga Toca, participated today in the closing session of the Annual General Assembly of the Association of Technology Companies of Galicia (Ineo), where she highlighted the organization’s contribution to strengthening Galicia’s technological ecosystem and emphasized the strategic role played by the ICT sector in the transformation and competitiveness of the regional economy.
During her speech, Toca recalled the strategic significance of the ICT sector, which represents 2.5% of Galicia’s GDP, generates more than 23,000 jobs, and comprises over 3,100 companies. In this context, she underlined the importance of continuing progress on the new ICT Industry Master Plan, a roadmap being developed with the active participation of the sector and aimed at promoting growth, innovation, talent, and the digital transformation of Galicia’s economy.
The Director also highlighted the relevance of the various support measures promoted by the Regional Government to assist the sector in its innovation, growth, and digital transformation processes. Among these initiatives, she emphasized the support provided by Igape for the development of Ineo’s Strategic Plan, the workshops on practical applications of artificial intelligence recently organized by the association, and other initiatives designed to strengthen the competitiveness and innovative capacity of Galician companies.
Finally, Toca reaffirmed the Regional Government’s commitment to promoting innovation, digitalization, and the competitiveness of Galicia’s business community. In this regard, she highlighted the forthcoming Galician Business Innovation Strategy as the roadmap for strengthening companies’ innovation capabilities, as well as instruments such as the upcoming call for digital transformation grants, internationalization programs, and loans for technological development and innovation projects, all aimed at facilitating business growth and transforming knowledge into new products, services, and innovative solutions.
