A Coruña, 10 August 2026
The Director-General of Industrial Strategy and Business Land, Margarita Ardao, highlighted today in A Coruña the role of the Strategic Initiative for Security, Defence and Aerospace (Iesda) as an instrument to boost Galicia’s capabilities in this sector. During a visit to the Galician Technology Institute, Ardao pointed out that the Xunta will allocate 183 million euros over five years and aims to mobilise more than 900 million euros in public-private funding.
Within this framework, the Director-General explained the two major calls already under way within Iesda. On the one hand, she recalled that Galician companies still have until 30 September to take part in partnership agreements to develop major industrial projects in dual technologies that will be manufactured in Galicia, a measure for which the Galician Government will allocate 40 million euros through the Pre-Commercial Public Procurement formula. On the other hand, she highlighted the first call for aid, with a budget of 1.5 million euros, to facilitate Galician companies obtaining certifications as suppliers for the security and defence sector.
