Phishing is a technique in which attackers impersonate a trusted entity (for example, a bank, a family member, a colleague or company executive or an online service) to deceive people and get them to reveal their passwords. It is dangerous because it doesn’t matter how strong the password is: if the user gives it away voluntarily, it becomes compromised. The best defense is staff training and MFA, which adds an extra layer of security.
