The Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, highlighted, in a meeting with Metaldeza executives, the company’s potential to diversify its activity and enter the security and defence sectors. Thus, she pointed out that the company, based in Lalín (Pontevedra), can become a benchmark thanks to its commitment to innovation and internationalisation, two fundamental pillars for competing in high added-value markets.
Lorenzana held a working meeting at San Caetano with Ramón Cuiña, president of this family company, whom she thanked for his willingness to drive new industrial capabilities and attract major projects that involve manufacturing in Galicia, two of the objectives of the Strategic Initiative for Security, Defence and Aerospace (Iesda), with which the Xunta de Galicia plans to mobilise 900 million euros by 2030 and favour the creation of around one hundred companies in the sector.
Metaldeza was, precisely, one of the 52 beneficiaries of the first line of aid, amounting to 1.5 million euros, called by the Xunta within the framework of Iesda and intended to facilitate the obtaining of certifications as suppliers for the security and defence sectors.
