The Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, held a meeting today with the Ambassador of Vietnam to Spain, Doan Thanh Song, during which they discussed the trade relations between Galicia and the Asian country, as well as investment opportunities for both economies.
Galician exports to Vietnam, mainly from the metalworking and agri-food sectors, reached €11.8 million last year. Regarding the number of companies exporting their products to the Asian market, the figure remains relatively stable, with 73 companies exporting in 2025, around fifteen of which operate regularly in this market.
The foundation of trade relations between Galicia and Vietnam lies in imports, which show greater stability and volume, particularly in the textile and fashion sector. This sector remains the leading import category, with imports valued at €77.4 million.
Lorenzana outlined to the ambassador the main objectives of the Regional Government of Galicia’s economic and industrial policy, which seeks to strengthen the internationalization of the Galician economy by promoting both exports and foreign investment in the region.
In this context, she presented the work being carried out by the Galicia Economic Office as a key interlocutor in identifying projects of interest for Galician industry and in providing the guidance and administrative support necessary for their implementation.
