The director of Igape, Covadonga Toca, today closed in Santiago de Compostela the event “Companies that transform territories: the role of midsized companies”, where she highlighted the strategic role of the so-called ETI (midsized companies) as a key axis for the economic development of Galicia.

During her speech, Toca Carús pointed out that Galicia has a dynamic business fabric with potential for growth in the size of its companies, which will make it possible to continue strengthening key capabilities such as innovation, access to financing and internationalisation.

The director of Igape stressed that midsized companies are a key element in this process, as they combine the ability to compete globally with strong territorial roots. In this regard, she cited Galician companies that already operate as international benchmarks in strategic sectors, highlighting their impact on innovation, employment and talent attraction.

Within this framework, Toca Carús explained that the Regional Ministry of Economy and Industry, through Igape, is developing a comprehensive strategy to support the business fabric, with resources exceeding 282 million euros, aimed at accompanying companies throughout all stages of their growth.

The package of support focuses on innovation and transformation, promoting the incorporation of advanced technologies, the modernisation of processes and the development of new products, as well as financial strengthening, with loans aimed at business growth. It also promotes internationalisation, in a context of strong export dynamism, and improved competitiveness through the professionalisation of management and talent attraction.

The director of Igape highlighted the importance of territorially balanced growth, stressing the role of ETIs in population retention, the generation of opportunities and economic dynamisation in Galicia. In this context, she emphasised the commitment to promoting new industrial projects with an impact on the territory, as well as the role of the Galician Economic Office as a key instrument to support business growth and speed up investment.
